BEGINNER KNITTING WITH LYNNE $20 - 1 HR.

Our beginners classes are made to be taken again and again to strengthen skills and gain confidence. Plan on taking the first class again before you move on to the next skill.
Beginners 1 – make a scarf , learn to cast on stitches at the start of a new project, Knit stitch, turning your work and knitting flat. Technical: Learn about the significance of measuring your gauge on different fabrics, read a pattern and understand a yarn label.
Beginners 2 – once you master the knit stitch you will learn the purl stitch, and be introduced to rib and seed stitch or basketweave pattern. Refresh your cast on knowledge and learn to cast off and weaving in ends. Technical: intro to yarn weights, different fibers and needle sizes.
Sundays November 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th 2-3p. December 7th, 14th, 21st 2-3p.
Thursdays November 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th 2-3p. December 4th, 11th, 18th, 30th 2-3p.

Similar to our knitting classes, our crochet classes are meant to be taken again and again until skills are strengthened.
Beginners 1 – holding your yarn and hook, controlling yarn tension, make a slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet stitch, turning your work. Technical: intro to yarn weights and crochet hook sizes.
Beginner 2 – refresh your stitches and learn Double Crochet (DC), half – double crochet (HDC), Tall triple (Treble) stitch. Fastening off and weaving in ends.

Knit Your First Sweater
Learn the fundamentals of sweater knitting with Alex in this introductory class. Using a straightforward top-down pattern featuring raglan sleeves and tubular cuffs, you will complete a garment step by step with clear guidance. The project is worked in a heavier-weight yarn, allowing for a faster finish—perfect for the upcoming sweater season. This class meets twice, with an additional help session scheduled between meetings to provide extra support.

This summer we are making Dan Doh Designs summer tops, and we chose 3 patterns: Agave, Woven Shadows and Inlet. if you want to join our Knit Along but think this may be too challenging – fear not! Our in hours Doctor is in to fix a mistake, show a complex technique or help you figure out how you have too many stitches.

HAT IN A DAY CLASS - 3 HOURS $60 + MATERIALS.

This class is great activity for whole families, a group of friends, or even small celebrations such as bachelorette parties and birthdays. Come in as an absolute beginner and leave wearing a fashionable hat that you made in 3 hours. We will supply the pattern (by Loopy Mango) and will teach you how to cast on, knit in the round and make a pompom. Suitable for absolute beginners.
(Yarn and needles are not included, an additional purchase of $35-$45)

TOE UP SOCKS, TWO AT A TIME - $100/ 3 SESSIONS

The benefit of knitting two socks at a time is that at the end you have 2 socks! No second sock syndrome!
In this 3 part class you will learn how to cast on 2 socks at the same time, with the same techniques as our Toe Up Socks On Magic Loop: Judy Magic Cast on, K2Tog, M1L, M1R, German short rows (W&T) and turning a heel Gusset and elastic bind off.

Bring your spindles, wheels, electric wheels, carders and fiber to practice your techniques amongst friends. We have some spinning books and magazines to peruse, scented candles for atmosphere and relaxing music.

Enjoy cool mountain breeze in our secluded furnished garden from 10-12 while temperatures are still low and get a baked bite from our neighbor Shandaken Bake or Deja Brew , or a breakfast from Pantry on Main or a great ramen from Lucky Catskills.
We call it knit + munch, but it could be any craft – spinning, lap loom weaving, crochet, needle works etc.
